The Foundation seeks to promote research in three distinct areas:

• fostering literacy;
• new treatments for orphan diseases of childhood and;
• methods to engender in children love of learning, empathy and compassion.

Each research proposal will be critiqued on the basis of credentials of the applicant; originality; likelihood of positively impacting the specific goals of the Request For Research Proposal; rigor and validity of the scientific method; potential for publication; and cost-effectiveness. Research proposals will be evaluated by a panel of DGLD Foundation and outsider reviewers.
